Project overview
We were asked to launch a mobile phone tariff that offers free music content to young people. Creating awareness and getting people to sign up.
So we staged a series of 'concerts' featuring some of the hottest artists in the UK. But instead of having them play live on stage - schedules and budgets would have made this impossible - we brought them to life in 3D.
As the video shows, the fans loved it.
The effect was created using a version of an old carnival illusion called Pepper's Ghost (if you want the technical detail there's a big page on Wikipedia about it here). But by using super hi-def footage and cleverly superimposed CGI we were able to make the whole performance look like the kind of stage show you could only dream of pulling off.
The atmosphere in the shopping centres exceeded all our expectations - it's hard to believe that they're just watching a pre-recorded show on a big screen.
Segments in between performances and on-the-ground staff gave the audience the chance to sign up for the tariff. And the results speak for themselves.
